Winning Haiku

Our winning haiku, as chosen by Snowpanic.com's very impressed poetry editor, was sent in by reader Jeanene Burke:

Snowpocalypse here
Panic! No shovel for you
It’s warm in San D.

Congratulations!

If anyone wants to turn in further haikus, we will be happy to publish them, even though they are too late for the contest.

And remember, with tomorrow's rush hour, we have further opportunity for tales of panic. If Monday produces any of those (or others emerge from this weekend's wreckage), please send them to jon@snowpanic.com.

  1. Thank you! Thank you! I couldn't have done it without the help of my wonderful husband, my loving children and all of my friends in San Diego and in Maryland. I would also like to thank the judging board, for this truly amazing honor. I was like the only entry, right? :)

  2. The fact that you are the only entry to make deadline does not lessen our sincerest admiration for the subtle grace of your stanza.

San D is a lovely pun on sandy, which evokes the sandy beaches of your new home. It also spells "sand", compelling the reader to compare and contrast the white sands with our present snowpocalypse referenced in the first line.

And we here at SnowPanic.com will be eternally grateful for the ergonomic shovel you allowed us to buy before you moved.

    :)
